Dr. Gjergji Gaqi is currently Assistant Professor of Piano at the University of Arkansas at
Pine Bluff, with previous appointments at Tyler Junior College, Siena Heights University,
College of the Mainland and Brazosport College. An active performer in both solo and
collaborative settings, including as a founding member of the Gaqi Piano Duo, Dr. Gaqi is a
frequently sought after masterclass clinician and adjudicator. He is co-founder and Artistic
Director of the Settenote Online Piano International Competition and has formerly served as
president of the East Texas Music Teachers Association and chair of the ETMTA Helen
Elbert Collaborative Music Festival. Gaqi is a graduate of Colby College and the University
of Michigan, with additional studies in piano and chamber music at the International School
of Chamber Music “Trio di Trieste” in Duino (Italy), and jazz piano with Ellen Rowe at the
University of Michigan.
