Jonathan Webber is a Memphis-based clarinetist and educator. From
private lessons to performances with the Memphis Symphony, he
maintains an active role in and around the Memphis musical scene.
In performance, Jonathan can be found frequently engaged in solo,
chamber, and orchestral roles. As a member of the Memphis-based
Blueshift Ensemble, he has had the privilege of being part of a
movement to bring exciting and accessible contemporary chamber
music to the public ear. He is a regular performer with the Beethoven
Club of Memphis, providing solo and chamber performances
throughout the Memphis area. He has served as a recurring substitute
clarinetist with the Memphis Symphony since 2019.
Jonathan remains active in both private teaching and in classroom
instruction. Aside from maintaining an independent private studio, he
enjoys a partnership with Bartlett High School where he serves as
artist-in-residence, providing private lessons and masterclasses. He is
currently the adjunct instructor of clarinet at Union University, and he
serves as an adjunct instructor of music theory at the
University of Memphis.
Jonathan holds a Masters of Music in clarinet performance from the
Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. He is currently
completing his dissertation in fulfilment of a Doctor of Musical Arts
degree from the University of Memphis. His principal teachers are
Howard Klug and Robyn Jones.
