Opened in 2019, The Steinway Piano Gallery Little Rock offers a stunning showroom showcasing Steinway pianos, renowned as the finest pianos in the world. The Steinway Piano Gallery also provides a space for piano teachers in Arkansas to host recitals, offering access to the world-class sound of a Steinway. More than just a retail store, the gallery serves as a community gathering place where music lovers can experience the art of sound and music in a welcoming environment.

In May 2023, we expanded our reach with the opening of a second location in Fayetteville, Arkansas. This new store allows the Northwest Arkansas music community to come together and enjoy the finest pianos while engaging in the celebration of music.

Learn More About Stephen

I started my piano training in 2002 as an apprentice under Jim McGehee, the founder of Piano Kraft. Before founding Piano Kraft, Jim co-established a successful piano rebuilding workshop in Scandinavia, which operated for 20 years. He received advanced training at the renowned Steinway Park Royal London Workshop and served as a teacher at the European Piano Technicians Guild's National Convention. Additionally, Jim worked as the tuner and technician for both the Royal Danish Orchestra and the Royal Danish Music Conservatory.

During my year of apprenticeship with Jim, I gained valuable hands-on experience not just in tuning, but in voicing, regulating, rebuilding, and moving pianos. I eventually began tuning in private homes, expanding my skills in the field. I continued to learn under Jim's mentorship until 2010.

In 2010, I became the co-owner of Piano Kraft, which was the exclusive dealer for Kawai and Yamaha pianos in Arkansas. I also served as the head technician for both brands during this time.

Two years later, in 2012, I launched my own business, Stephen's Piano Shop, LLC. This venture allowed me to begin tuning for the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, where I remain their exclusive tuner and technician.

My relationship with educational institutions expanded when I began working with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) under contract in 2014. By 2016, I became the university's exclusive technician. The following year, I also became the exclusive technician for the University of Central Arkansas.

In 2016, I completed the Steinway Regulation Course, having trained with Kent Webb at Steinway. I am committed to completing all Steinway courses to further refine my expertise.

In March 2017, I opened a 6,000-square-foot full rebuilding shop, complete with a small showroom where customers can play their pianos after restoration.

The summer of 2017 marked an exciting new chapter when Steinway & Sons asked me to become the exclusive Steinway dealer for Arkansas. I proudly accepted this opportunity, and in 2019, I opened the Steinway Piano Gallery Little Rock in Mayflower, AR. The gallery features a beautiful showroom and is acoustically designed for chamber music and recitals. This space not only serves as a Steinway retail store, but also a cultural hub where Arkansas musicians can perform, and piano teachers can host recitals on some of the finest pianos in the world.

In May 2023, I expanded my reach with the opening of a second gallery in Fayetteville, AR, located at 4155 N. Steele Boulevard, Suite 30.
