Amy Porter, voice
Dr. Amy Porter, a Louisiana native, earned her DMA and BM (Vocal Performance) from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Her MM and Professional Studies diploma were earned at Mannes College of Music in NYC where she won the Richard F. Gold Career Grant. She is currently serving as a member of the voice faculty as Assistant Professor of Music at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville. Prior to her appointment at ATU, Dr. Porter taught at Gonzaga and Whitworth Universities in Spokane, WA.
She has appeared in many operatic roles, including Königin der Nacht, Violetta, Lucia, Mimi, Marguerite, Contessa, and Alice. She has performed more contemporary operatic works, including Poulenc’s one-woman monodrama La Voix Humaine (Femme), Dinos Constantinides’s psychological one-act opera Rosanna (Angelina), and a partially-televised production of David Amram’s Twelfth Night (Olivia), as well as early music productions, including Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas (Dido) and the New York City premiere of Hildegard von
Bingen’s medieval morality play Ordo Virtutum (Victory). Dr. Porter has sung throughout the Northwest region, including regular performances with the Spokane Symphony, Spokane Kantorei, and Inland Northwest Opera, and has performed opera, oratorio, and recital repertoire across the United States
