Tomoko kashawagi

Tomoko Kashiwagi, piano

Pianist Tomoko Kashiwagi thrives in the diverse repertoire she explores as both a performer and educator. Kashiwagi is the inaugural recipient of the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Collaborative Piano from the University of Texas at Austin, and earned her Bachelor, Master and Performer Diploma in Piano Performance from Indiana University. 

Kashiwagi’s performance career has taken her across the United States and internationally, frequently invited as the official pianist for various conferences, competitions, and festivals. She was the official pianist at the Menuhin International Violin Competition in 2014 and the International Tuba and Euphonium Conference in 2019. 

Kashiwagi joined the faculty at the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville in 2012 where she is Emily J. McAllister Endowed Associate Professor of Piano and Collaborative Piano. Embracing the ethos of lifelong learning and intellectual curiosity, Kashiwagi is dedicated to fostering musical excellence and community engagement. In 2022, she received the Community Activator Grant from the Mid-America Arts Alliance. Kashiwagi is the Artistic Director of the Ozark Music Initiative, a non-profit organization creating year-round educational opportunities that empower the next generation of musicians and bring world-class performances to enhance the cultural life of Northwest Arkansas.
